Feng Shui Kitchen Make Easy
A good feng shui kitchen brings good health and well beings to the occupant.
This is an important room both in the East and West. Not only it reflects a family fortune and prosperity, it is also the most heavily trafficked room connected to fond memories of pleasant aromas and intimate conversation.
Hey, you will agree that this is the room of “love in action”….family members preparing sumptuous meal together for one another....what were you thinking about, huh?! ;)
High level of hygiene, good circulation of chi and adequate lighting and ventilation are important consideration while designing your feng shui kitchen in modern days. Do keep these factors in mind.
Choosing the Right Feng Shui Colors
White is a good dominating color to use here as it symbolizes purity and cleanliness. This Metal element color goes well with the strong Fire element in this place (Fire destroy Metal. (See feng shui elements)
Refrain from using Red (Fire element), Black/Dark blue (Water element) and Green (Wood element) as the dominating element color.
Introducing Fire and Wood elements (Wood Produce Fire) as the dominant color create an overwhelming Fire element in the kitchen. On the other hand, Water destroys Fire.
Instead, selective introduction of light leafy green, Red and Dark Blue/Black to the kitchen color scheme are fine.
You may like to add Chrysoprase Crystals to this room. This crystal has a calming effect and brings tolerance to this exciting room.
Another good crystal will be moss agate which symbolizes growth, sustainability and prosperity.
Balancing the Feng Shui Elements
The kitchen is considered to be more Yang in nature with strong dominance of the Fire element. Yet it’s the area that requires least balancing.
WHY?
You see, the stove create an abundance of fire element, your wooden cabinet will inject the wood element, your earthenware such as clay pots form the earth element, while your metal utensils show off the metal element. As for water, it comes from your running water out from the tap.
Not too much balancing needed actually.
Creating a feng shui kitchen is easy, right? :)
Side track a little to share a little secret with you…….Sshh! If you want to keep your weight in check, one way is to introduce more blue in the surrounding when consuming your meal.
Blue helps to decrease appetite and blood pressure. So you can use blue table cloth, blue napkin, blue plate or blue mat.
Just decorate the dining place so that it blends well with the surrounding.
Furniture Placement
The heart of the kitchen is the stove and much emphasis is placed on its positioning.

Other Feng Shui Kitchen Tips
- Keep task area bright to keep out dreariness. You can install bright lights to give you a spacious feeling.
- Keep clutter clear. Containerize to eliminate a cluttering feeling.
- Keep the kitchen door close as far as possible.
- Keep the kitchen well ventilated and lit.
- Entrance to kitchen should not be directly in line with the back door as chi can enter and exit the kitchen rapidly. If that is not possible, then place furniture to divert the chi into other section of the kitchen.
- Entrance to kitchen and lavatory should not face each other. If unavoidable, then keep the lavatory door close.
- If kitchen is visible from main house entrance, erect a screen or beads curtain using green crystals. You may also consider placing large attractive crystal geode in the living room to direct attention to the living room instead.
- For healthy energy and vitality, display malachite crystals stone or craved malachite green dragon in view. Ideally while working at the sink.
- The kitchen is a much used room. Other than its significant contribution as the place to prepare the food, it is the heart of a family life. Again, you know as well as I do that having a feng shui kitchen contributes positively to the overall well being of the occupants…
